Student Visa USA from India

The US government offers three types of student visas for international students: F, J, and M. The F visa is for study at an accredited US college or university, or to study English at an English language institute. The J visa is for participation in an exchange program, including high school and university study. The M visa is for non-academic or vocational study or training in the US. 



Here are some requirements for the F-1 visa:

Be over 18 years old

Apply to an SEVP-approved school

Enroll in a full-time program

Pass any language proficiency tests

Have proof of sufficient financial funds

The college or university where you plan to study needs to be approved by SEVP Immigration & Customs Enforcement 

The application process includes:

Gathering all required documents

Applying online

Waiting for approval

Flying to the USA 

The processing time for an F-1 visa can take 3–6 weeks, but can extend up to 4 months if your documents are inaccurate.

Get accepted and get your I-20 form

Pay your SEVIS fee: The $350 SEVIS fee is a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) processing and maintenance charge

Complete your DS-160 visa application

Schedule your visa interview.
