Alienware 18

Alienware 18
Alienware has been appeasing the gaming appetite of PC gamers for quite some time with its powerful and custom gaming hardware. The mission continues under the auspices of Dell since 2006 with the line of alluring laptops that are packed with unbelievable power. The name Alienware is very familiar to most PC gamers and Alienware 18 has now effectively packed the legacy of the series to give a lavish treat to the buyers. Anybody used to the normal kind of laptops will be prompted to call it a monster at the first sight due to its striking oversize.
The product is marketed in multiple tiers ranging from $2000 to more than $4000 with the price corresponding to what you want in the machine. The basic configuration that any of these variations will naturally feature include 1080p, 4th Generation Intel Core i7 Processors, and Windows 7 Premium upgradable to Win 8. All of them carry the envied signature of the brand ‘AlienFX Lighting Zones’. The striking features highlighted by the video include the amazing extra keyboard functions and the built-in Alienware control center software.
Though the video does not talk anything about the monster size of the model, it is obvious for anyone who might receive it with a mixed kind of feelings. Stunningly, even the power brick is immense in size. In fact, we feel it fits to call the machine a thinner version of the PC with a built in keyboard and monitor. Alienware 18 is the best answer to PC game savvies who are passionate about travelling to LAN events, a portable workstation and a challenging software.
The screen addresses gaming expectations and by default uses the gamer-friendly Windows 7 (Home Premium). The performance of the machine is stunningly amazing when you run games like Battlefield, MechWarrior Online, the Star Citizen hangar, Minecraft and MMOs like Neverwinter and World of Warplanes.
Though gamers will find it convenient, the oversize of the keyboard of 3X higher might force your wrists and forearm to complain.
The dimensions are
Height: Front: 2.23 in (56.71mm) Rear: 2.26 in (57.50mm)
Depth: 12.909 in (327.89 mm)
Width: 17.972 in (456.50 mm)
With a starting weight of 5.472 kg. with the optional SSD.
You will find four USB ports with two on each side that can cater to connecting all of your gaming accessories besides an Ethernet port to connect LAN. With the prime objective of meeting the needs of gamers, it is featured to easily connect gaming mice, a Logitech joystick, the Razer Tartarus Gaming Keypad, and so on.
While you have a lavish number of options with Alienware 18, you have options as well to upgrade its several features, the RAM for instance up to 32gb. The two video card options are the Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M with 3GB GDDR5 and GTX 765M with 2GB GDDR5.
The lighting features and options make you call it a gaming showpiece. You can customize the lighting of the machine by section. The color wheel gives the options to choose the color and pattern of the light you want on the keyboard. You can also alter the colors on the exteriors and the Alienware logo. The Alienware command centre also has systems to set up macros, customize power plans and the touchpad. For each of the gaming app, the user can pre-define the performance and display settings.
Though one would complain about the huge size and the heavy price of Alienware 18, it is to be noted that this is not the one that targets an average user. While it can do anything and everything a PC gamer will want, the price is verily justified for all that it promises.
